The wine kitchen frederick md

Are you searching for a great date night restaurant in Frederick?  The Wine Kitchen on the Creek is the perfect place for Nicole and me.  The food, drinks, wine, and location make a great weekend outing for a date or special occasion.

The Wine Kitchen is one of Frederick’s upscale restaurants. It has a big city menu, a great bar, and a buzzy vibe. It’s a modern restaurant with lots of wine-friendly dishes, and things like whiskey flights that just make fun to visit over and over.

Great Cocktails, Beers, and Whiskey Flights!

Before getting into the food and wine, it must be stated that The Wine Kitchen has a great bar and serves up some of Frederick’s best cocktails and drinks. If you are a wine lover, there are selections from all over the globe. But there are also lots of local beers, interesting cocktails, and whiskey.

One of the neat things about getting drinks at The Wine Kitchen is the flights. You can try flights of wine and whiskey to sample selections from around the world.

Let's Talk About The Wines

At The Wine Kitchen, the cocktails are great, and I’ve had beer with dinner many times.  But to truly experience this restaurant, you have to check out the wine menu.

This wine menu is arranged slightly differently than you’ll typically see in an upscale restaurant.  Wines are placed primarily in groups of 3 based on common characteristics.

For example, there’s Pinot Evil (a group of three Pinot Noirs from around the world) and Paint the Town Red (bold red wines from California, South Africa, and France).

For each group, you can order a ‘flight’ (taste of all 3), an individual glass, or a whole bottle.  There are also Sommelier Selections, more red and white wines from various regions that you can order individually as well.

The wine menu is arranged to encourage you to try something new.  You should order accordingly!  The wine list also focuses on small producers and rotates often, giving you a reason to come back.

The Wine Kitchen on the Creek Menu

The Wine Kitchen menu is a modern, interesting collection of dishes that allow you to construct a special something special no matter when you visit.

The dinner menu is best described as ‘modern’ and ‘wine-friendly’. The appetizers include yummy starters like pork belly and burrata. Enjoy these with your opening cocktail or the first glass of wine from your opened bottle.

The entrees continue the wine-pairing theme.  Are you in the mood for white wine?  Then go for the Rockfish, Scallops, or Duck (Glenn’s favorite).  All these will pair with your new world Riesling from Washington State, or your old world Viognier from France.

The Vibe at The Wine Kitchen on the Creek

In addition to a great wine list, cocktails, and dinner menu, The Wine Kitchen in Frederick benefits from a prime location. Right in the heart of Carroll Creek, it is literally in the hub of downtown Frederick.

When Nicole and I visit The Wine Kitchen for date night, we often start with a drink at one of our other favorite bars in downtown Frederick or hit one of them up afterward.  Have you tried McClintock’s Back Bar?

The actual vibe while dining at The Wine Kitchen feels somewhere between an elegant upscale restaurant, and trendy downtown venue.  It can feel quiet, but it is also lively if you are closer to the bar.

(We had Christmas carolers roll in an sing during a December visit…so cool!)
