Among the many things I love in life, two stand out: breakfast and bike riding. Perhaps that’s why Gravel and Grind, a coffee shop in downtown Frederick, caught my attention early on. They focus on both.
Gravel and Grind is a local coffee and breakfast spot in downtown Frederick that also operates as a bike shop. You could say it plays a significant role in bringing happiness to the Frederick community.

A Great Frederick Coffee Shop That Will Also Service Your Bike!
Gravel and Grind is a prominent, stand alone business on the north side of downtown Frederick that is one other city’s best coffee shops.
In addition to artisan coffee drinks, you can get a great breakfast there – including loaded toasts, baked goods, and waffles (on weekends).

Gravel and Grind offers more than coffee and breakfast. It is also an official dealer of several city bicycle brands, including Brooklyn Bicycle Co. and Surly Bikes.
Additionally, you can get your bike serviced at Gravel and Grind.
Enjoy breakfast and bicycles!

One of Frederick's Best and Most Popular Breakfast Joints
It took Nicole and me several tries to finally visit Gravel and Grind. Our first attempt was on a cold Saturday morning, but when we arrived, the parking lot and restaurant were completely packed.
As a result, we had to find an alternate breakfast spot. However, we could tell that this place must be a winner, so we have returned several times since then.

Gravel and Grind is quite popular and often crowded, especially on weekend mornings.
However, they offer a generous parking area and plenty of outdoor seating for nice days, making it easy to visit.
The Gravel and Grind Menu
Why do Frederick locals flock to this attractive coffee joint? Its mostly the coffee and the food.
G&G sources its coffee beans from another local Frederick business: ChocoSombra. They turn these roasted, Peruvean coffee beans into beautiful coffee drinks: espresso drinks, lattes, pour overs, and nitros.

Beautiful, Delicious Breakfast Items at G&G
The coffee alone is worth a visit to Gravel and Grind. But this is a place for breakfast. My favorite aspect of G&G is the food menu.
You can get baked goods – biscotti, brownies, etc. The star of the menu are the toasts.

For example, the Nutella and Orange Blossom Fluff or Almond Butter w/ Banana Toasts if you prefer your breakfast sweeter.
The Pesto, Mozzarella, and Blistered Tomatoes Toast is more savory. There are many more to try.
I’m determined to keep visiting until I’ve tried them all.

A Coffee Shop That Feels Part of the Community
Just like a trip to Frederick Coffee Co on the south side of downtown, Gravel and Grind envelops you in a warm, community vibe that’s hard to resist.
This isn’t just another generic chain coffee shop that could exist anywhere; instead, Gravel and Grind embodies the heart and soul of Frederick.
Every corner of this cozy spot resonates with local character.

Need to Rent a Bike? Need a Bike Tune Up?
Yes, did we mention this is a bike shop?
There are lots of great biking routes around Frederick, including the Frederick Historic Bicycle Loop. This loop takes you around all the major historical sites in Frederick, utilizing Carroll Creek Park and Baker Park.

There are also great bike excursions along the C&O canal, a short drive away from Frederick.

For Frederick residents or visitors who want to take advantage of these bike activities, Gravel and Grind offers bike rentals, including bikes perfect for inner-city riding or the gravel paths typical of the C&O Canal.
You can also bring your own bike to Gravel and Grind for basic services like a tune-up or wheel, brake, or shifting repairs.
Gravel and Grind Around Town

One other important note about this great Frederick coffee shop.
You’ll likely see the G&G Coffee Cart around town, especially at events.
