What is your favorite Frederick Movie Theatre?  Despite the growth of streaming services (which Nicole and I are big fans of), we still love heading to a movie theatre occasionally to see a new film on the big screen.

In this post, we’ll tell you about our favorite Movie Theatres in Frederick, MD, and why you might want to visit them yourself.

For years, there was really only a single big-screen movie theatre in Frederick.  Today, there are options right in the Frederick area, so you can avoid heading into Montgomery County for a movie.

About This Frederick Movie Theatre:

Warehouse Cinemas is located on the west side of Frederick on the Golden Mile and delivers a next-level movie experience.  This is not the average movie theatre you grew up going to.  Warehouse Cinemas Frederick follows the latest trend in movie-going, with upgraded seating, food and drink, and technology.

It starts with the seriously comfortable seating.  Every auditorium has plush leather recliners that even have seat warmers.

Warehouse Cinemas also have an elevated menu, which goes way beyond popcorn and candy.  While you can get both of those things, you can also get flat breads, sandwiches, gourmet hot dogs, and desserts.

Maybe the best part of seeing a movie at Warehouse Cinemas in Frederick is the drink menu, which includes draft beers, wine, and cocktails.  The beer list rotates but includes big brands like Guinness and Frederick local brews like Monocacy Brewing and Cushwa from Hagerstown.

2. Regal Cinemas Frederick MD

About This Frederick Movie Theatre:

Regal Cinemas Frederick (Regal Westview) is south of town on Buckeystown Pike.  It’s a traditional movie theater with nine auditoriums that has done its best to keep up to date over the years.

For a long time, this was the only real movie theatre in Frederick, MD (unless you drove down into Montgomery County).

Most Regal Frederick theatres have upgraded seating, including comfortable recliners. The visual and Dolby surround audio are quite good, so you won’t be disappointed seeing a new release at Regal.

Though the reviews are mixed, some theatres have the IMAX and Stadium Seating arrangements.

You can get classic snacks and drinks at Regal while watching a movie, and Regal has a Regal Unlimited program for those who want unlimited movie watching for a monthly rate.

What Makes a Great Movie Theatre Experience?

Like any other review, ratings are subjective but here’s what makes a great movie theatre for us:

  • Number of Theatres and Selection of Showtimes
  • Quality of the Seating
  • Large, Quality Screens with Equally Good Audio
  • Concessions:  Food and Drink!
  • Prices
  • Ease of Buying Tickets (Online)

In recent years, movie theatres have made many improvements to enhance the movie theatre experience to compete with the advent of streaming and the inclination of moviegoers to ‘stay home and watch’.

Several movie theatres in Frederick, Maryland, have made these improvements to attract customers.
