Frederick, Maryland, is surprisingly large for a town that has no local TV stations.  In fact, there are towns as small as Glendive, Montana – population 3,900 – that have their own local TV stations.  Frederick’s population is approximately 90,000.

This is all related to something called DMAs (Designated Market Areas), which are the media markets that exist throughout the country.  Frederick is part of the Washington D.C. DMA, the 8th largest in the US.

Most Frederick residents can also access Baltimore stations over cable or antenna.
